Comprehensive Assessment & Treatment

Working with parents, children, adolescents and young adults
to assess, activate, and sustain motivation for change.

waterParents often wonder what to do when their children

We provide proactive, comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments that answer vexing problem situations for students and parents. We help discover strengths and overcome weaknesses.

Whether your child or teen is under-achieving in school, experiencing depression, or failing to manage T1 diabetes demands, our first goal is to understand in detail your son's or daughter's current plight. Our first step is to meet with you and your son or daughter, to understand your goals, and to recommend services and interventions we believe will help.

Often, these services will begin with a neuropsychological or psychological assessment, which yields an accurate and detailed description of strengths and weaknesses, and of the obstacles your son or daughter faces, in the context of a full diagnostic formulation.

With the information we obtain from an assessment, we can recommend follow-up or treatment services, pointing you to tools and people to enhance strengths, to develop persistence, and to help overcome learning, emotional, or behavioural barriers to growth.

A comprehensive assessment is a powerful intervention in its own right, as communicating the results to teachers and other involved adults in effect creates a proactive team around the child. For information about team and follow-up services, click here.

As valuable as they are, assessment results are not the end of the story. We also need to enhance students’ self-awareness, motivation, and confidence. Through enhancing self-efficacy, we help them learn to identify and solve problems for themselves in the future.
